about

Yet another left over track from the last album. Straight up rock 'n roll. I like the "la la la la" backing vocals.

A lot of people are confused as to what this song is about. It's me feeling more like my girl's pet rather than her boyfriend. The cross above my head is the martyr in me. Kneeling upon the sacred bed is putting sex on too much of a pedestal. Holding my nose to a cigarette is dating girls who smoke even though I despise it. Not getting wet is a reference to impotency due to anxiety. The second verses are about insomnia. Basically it's about incompatible relationships and how it can beat down on the ego. But you know, in a funny way. "la, la, la, la"

lyrics

When I feel like dying I hold a cross above my head
When I feel like crying I kneel upon the sacred bed
Natural Pet, I hold my nose up to a cigarette
Natural Pet, Can you blame me if I don't get wet?

More than just a feeling, it wakes me up from blissful sleep
Hold me to the ceiling and hop the fence like counting sheep

I don't know when to do it
I wish you'd smile like the man on the moon
I guess you'd have to lose it
I'll make up stories why I left so soon

Natural Pet, I hold my nose up to a cigarette
Natural Pet, Can you blame me if I don't get wet?
