I love old, rusty cast iron objects....and gates reminded me of a special meeting place. "meet me at the cast iron gates" has a nostalgic vision to it. The lyrics also invoke the autumn season, which is the most romantic of the seasons.
lyrics
Cast iron gates are waiting
Lifting the latches on the other side
See you much later
Walk around your lawn amongst the fallen leaves
Sooner or later we're gonna march right out the dor
Chasing the shadows of winter
Crisp cool air is the way of life 'round here
Both of us waiting on our neighbor's lonely creaky porch
Sooner or later we're gonna close our eyes once more
and press our lips forever more
Walk around the sons and daughters
Where rocks and sand will be our mortar
Maybe your eyes are sympathizing
With or without your thoughts arising
Hope that your dreams can wait another day
