Architects Unite

from The Streets Are For Keeps by Francis Friday

/

about

I'm an architect. Though a bit reluctantly sometimes. This is my dedication to the craft in musical form.

I goofed on the lyrics during the role call...I meant to sing Mies (as in Mies Van Der Rohe) instead of Meier (as in Richard Meier). As a result I wind up saying Meier twice.

lyrics

Architects unite! Build all that you can, we don't have much time
If you've got a new plan to show, we need it now
We need a new disconnect to fabricate the intersect, we need it now

Architects unite! Stay true to yourselves and not of the codes
Construction is imminent to recourse now
Think not of the resources that fade away with discourses, we need them now

Corbusier is modular and Mies is glass and steel
Johnson is a modernist and Rietveld is DiStyl
Libeskind's deconstructivist and Meier's just a square
Zaha's curvy furniture and Gehry's cardboard chair

Architects unite! Design a new home, let's build a new Rome
If character is built with strength, we need it now
The pyramid and the tower will take the breath of every hour, we need it now
