This song was influenced by my tour of the Mississippi Delta, which I did in the fall of 2008. The purpose of the trip was to explore the roots of rock 'n roll; from Memphis down Highway 61 to New Orleans. I ran out of time to make it to NOLA, but I explored so many wonderful places, particularly Clarksdale, MS, "birthplace of the blues." There I stayed in an old shotgun shack equipped with a piano and guitar. My only roommate was a little mouse who I would see dart across the floor from time to time.
lyrics
Heaven is a mighty good reason
to stop your sinning, to see the lord
Way up in heaven I will find my way
to true salvation is here to stay
Holy pure water is flowing
from top 'yon mountain to gulf below
I want to bathe in that wholesome river
so I can be so close to the lord
Heaven is a mighty good reason
to get to know him 'fore judgment day
Oh let me touch the hem of his garment
so I can walk down that lone highway
